Good morning and welcome to the What I Ate Wednesday part of the week! Has everyone seen the Geico commercial with the camel talking about Hump Day? It is so funny…but hey…we have fun here at WIAW! I think that the fun was very much a part of Jenn’s concept when she started it over at Peas & Crayons. Be sure to stop by there when you’re finished here and leave some comments!
Our focus this month is sensible snacking, but I really haven’t been doing much of that. Well, maybe just a little.
So many of the WIAW participants use all of their foods for one day. I don’t think I ever do that. Maybe I should try to focus on accomplishing that one day this week. Anyway, here goes!
You’ve surely seen this before. Spinach and mushroom egg white omelette with sliced tomatoes on the side at the diner. This is just so good, which is why I have it all the time!
We went back to the diner for lunch that day. I needed something different and asked for egg salad with “not too much” mayo in it. I need to find a new way to phrase my request. This was dripping with mayo, truly…it kept dripping on the plate while I was eating it. Maybe “very Little” will work as a descriptive term…hmmm…
Still working on that wonderful granola…an eighth of a cup at a time. Here, i had it with peach Greek yogurt. Very good breakfast!
Every WIAW seems to come with a true confessions segment. This is part of Saturday’s. My friends and I have been waiting to try a frozen yogurt place that opened recently. As we’ve been working Very hard on Weight Watchers, we’ve been avoiding it. We decided we would try it on Saturday. I had creme brulee, peanut butter and lemon. It was incredibly delicious, but quite expensive, you fill the cup yourself and then you’re charged by the ounce. This was almost $7.00!! It was good, but I don’t think I’ll be going again for a Long while!!
Later that same day (Oh, lord am I glad I have a week to recover from this day before I go back to WW!!) back to the diner again for a veggie cheese steak. This was much fuller than the last one I had…I ended up eating it with a knife and fork.
The second True Confession portion comes from a visit to the ice cream shop after the sandwich above. I didn’t take a photo only because I didn’t have my camera with me. I won’t be doing that again!
Sunday found us visiting our niece, Marie and her husband and her two beautiful little boys. I didn’t take any photos of them, but I did get the food!
Marie was so sweet and made sure I had veggie-friendly choices. She asked me to bring a veggie burger-I brought a spicy black bean burger-but she had other great choices for me. Pasta salad, regular salad and the wonderful grilled veggie kabobs. I was lucky enough to get some of them in a to-go bag when we left. Thanks, Marie!
Now that I look at this, it looks Quite strange! In the measuring cup is my egg substitute/egg white combo that I make. I had some Mrs. Dash and some sriracha sauce. I’m truly lazy…so I leave it in the measuring cup after cooking. Trying to get in more fruit, so I added the banana.
I’m back on track now after the unfortunate frozen yogurt/ice cream incident of Saturday. I don’t expect that I’ll have any more slips. I’m hoping for a good week.
Be sure to stop by at Peas & Crayons to check out what all of the other fun foodies are sharing for WIAW today…and leave some comments!
Happy What I Ate Wednesday!!
