Friday, Saturday, 1-2-3

I sometimes throw myself off on my posts when I schedule something in advance.  Life is simpler when I write my Saturday post on Friday afternoon and schedule it to post on Saturday morning.  That way I can be off to Weight Watchers and other errands without worrying that I need to get home to post.  Very handy this scheduling option.

But then I get off track on what I’ve done because when Sunday comes along…Today’s Sunday…right? 😉  I’m a bit confused.  Of course…when am I not confused these days!  I like to think of it as part of my charm. 😉

Friday afternoon, Ralph decided he needed something from McDonald’s.  It was late afternoon and he hadn’t had lunch so I didn’t mind.  I went along for the ride.  When I got there I decided…what the heck…I could get one of the very few things I can eat at McD’s…the yogurt parfait.

It didn’t photograph that well, but this is one of my favorite things.  It is so delicious and better than that, it only counts for 4 Points on Weight Watchers.

There have been times on our road trips when our only choice is to stop at a McD’s.  Ralph will get whatever he’s getting and I’ll order 2 of these.  I’ll eat one while we’re there and since we always travel with a cooler, I save the second one for later.  Works out pretty well.  I’m already working on food and snack ideas for the road trip in July.  Looking toward the idea of making it thrifty AND WW friendly.  It will be a fun experiment…if the Twizzlers don’t get the better of me.

After my parfait splurge Friday afternoon, I had to get right back on track.  Friday night dinner…

Yummy salad in the BPB with home-made honey Dijon dressing.  Very tasty and I felt So superior because I got back on track.

My superiority was put into perspective Saturday AM when I got to WW.  I was up three-quarters of a pound, but I didn’t let it worry me.  I had such a nice loss last week this is just a minor bump.  I know that I’m under my WW goal, but I really want to get back to my personal goal.  I only had 2 pounds to get back to it and I know I can do it.

When I got home from WW I checked on my black beans in preparation for the burgers I’ll be making today.  Since I knew I had errands after WW, I put them in Crock 3.o on low.  It certainly takes longer on low than on high.  Later in the afternoon, I put it on high and I’m still not sure they’re cooked enough, but I’m sure they’ll be fine.

Already for today’s project.  I think I’m going to freeze some this time to see how that works out.

Saturday evening, after I’d already changed into my comfy clothes, Ralph said that we needed ice cream…Needed ice cream.  Being the accommodating wife that I am, I got dressed again and off we went.

Tried a flavor that was new to me…Black Raspberry…Yum!  Let me tell you…this has definitely moved up in the ice cream rotation.  Really tasty.  You know how sometimes you want something sweet, but you want something a little tangy, too?  This did the trick for me.  It was Saturday…I deserved a treat.  Besides, eating it out, there is no “rest of the container” in my freezer to mock me.

So there you have it…I woke up with a headache but some ibuprofen and coffee seem to have done the trick there.  I’m glad because I have things I want to do today.  I should make a list then I can feel superior when I cross things off.  I guess I’m into feeling superior these days!!

Happy Sunday!!  Enjoy yourselves!!

  1. Happy Sunday! Thanks for your tip about the yogurt parfait. We’ll be traveling this summer and often make quick stops for fast food. I love burgers, but I can’t eat them every day! LOL

  2. haha, i love how ralph “needed” mcdo and then “needed” ice cream!! very fun! you could likely mcdonald’s your way across the US to nm, eh?!
glad your headache is gone – enjoy your sunday, fran!
    list making is the BEST!

  3. It’s funny that you and Cathy both talked about McDs in your post–you must have been channeling each other! I forget what day of the week it is all the time, especially now that I don’t work in an office. NEEDing ice cream is a very real thing–good to listen to your body on that one 😉 Enjoy the rest of your weekend Fran!

Hi Honey.Twizzlers are my weakness too.A few months ago I found Sugarless Red Twizzlers in Walmart and they are the best Sugarfree Licorice I have ever had. They are very close in taste to the regular Twizzlers…..

what was it about McD’s his week?? I was running late Fri after my ophthalmologist strolled in the front door at 8:30 for my 8:15 eye appt and ended up w/the first drive through egg McMuffin I’ve had in years (surprisingly only 6 WW pts)

    • Wow, Val! I didn’t realize an egg McMuffin was only 6 points! With our without meat? That’s a good pointer for on the road. Don’t you love when a “professioinal” has so much respect for your time?!?

  6. Feeling superior rocks…anytime I’m a little ahead of where I want to be..I’m pretty self-congratulatory (or smug..) about it!

  8. glad you got changed and splurged for the ice cream! i had a little bit saturday and sunday. and i think i’d like to keep enjoying it in as often as possible. haha.

  9. I try to plan ahead with my posts…most often then not I am completely unsuccessful.

Hope you are feeling better! The ice cream must have helped I’m sure. 🙂

  10. Fran, I cannot say enough how awesome you are. Despite the fact that we deal with different issues around food, I do have to say that you definitely inspire me with your positive mindset. You never let a little slip bring you down and you are constantly looking at your goal, while keeping life fun, and living it the way YOU want to and THAT is awesome! That ice cream looks delicious!

    • Cara, thank you, Sweetie. I’ve never known anyone in real life with your issue and I’m appreciate getting to know your struggles and how you deal with them. I’m glad that I can support and inspire you. Stay in touch.
