Not An Ordinary Saturday Morning

If it was a regular Saturday morning, I would be going to and talking about my Weight Watchers meeting.  But this is no ordinary Saturday.

At the time when I would usually be heading to my meeting, I will be helping to clean up our campsite from our night at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.   With any luck, it will be a very different cleanup from last year.  We had torrential rain last year, but the forecast is clear and cool.  We hope have an enjoyable though emotional night.  We hope to make new friends and strengthen old friendships. Hopefully we will be getting the tallies of the funds we’ve raised and we will have surpassed last year’s totals.

We’ll be there walking all night long.  I’ll probably eat things I shouldn’t (I’ve already seen Ele’s snack bag!)  We probably will have drunk too much coffee…is there such a thing?!

This isn’t my usual type of post, but I know I’ll be too tired when I get home to make any kind of sense at all.  Sunday will be Ele’s birthday and we will be celebrating.  I’ll also be giving you a recap of the Relay.  It’s a wonderful event.

If you’ve lost someone to cancer, think about donating and think about joining us next year, either at our location in Mantua, NJ or follow the link and find a Relay For Life event in your area.

This is not an ordinary Saturday, but it always makes a difference.

Enjoy this beautiful day!

  1. thinking of you and ele and the other participants, fran, on this early saturday morning. i hope everything was a success: from the weather, to connecting with new people, to surpassing last year’s funds raised. it will be great to read your recap!
    happy bday to ele tomorrow!
enjoy the rest of your saturday (a nap or reading, maybe?!).
there are several relays held in my area, usually at a high school where they can use the track. it’s great to see people of all ages involved.

    • Thanks, Cathy! Just got home about 45 minutes ago. Couldn’t go right to sleep. We did very well and when I logged in to my e-mail I had gotten additional donations so I’m pretty happy. Some reading and then I may get some shut eye, but maybe not. First year, I couldn’t sleep until night, it may work that way today. I will pass the birthday greeting along to Ele. Thanks!

  2. What a great way to spend your day. So the walk is during the night huh, hence all the coffee I guess. Have fun and good for you and Ele for being part of this. It’s always so wonderful to connect with old friends and make new friends, thankfully you’ll have good weather to do it 🙂

  3. Thinking of you today. 🙂
