Photo Array~WIAW

Ok, so I confess-I spend too many hours each week watching Law & Order.  Whether it’s the original series or Special Victims Unit (my Favorite!) or even Criminal Intent (not my favorite)  I watch it.  I love that USA network runs marathons of SVU and TNT runs marathons of the original L&O.  It makes me happy.  Maybe being married to a retired police detective has something to do with it.  Ralph always laughs when I ask him “legal” questions prompted by the shows.

All that being said, there’s something called a photo array that the police use to see if the victim or witness can identify the bad guy when it’s not possible to do a line up.  Since today is What I Ate Wednesday and it’s time to show you all of my goodies for the week, I guess it’s like a foodie photo array.  Of course, WIAW is presented to all of us by the lovely Jenn over at Peas & Crayons.

Peas and Crayons

Be sure to head over to P & C after you’re finished here and check out all the goodies and leave some comments.  You’ll make some new friends too!

My Big Purple Bowl filled with yummy salad made with Morningstar Farms veggie burgers and home-made dressing.  I’m not even sure when this was…maybe Saturday!

Nothing like a cup of tea in the afternoon with a good book.  This is a Really Good Book!!

Breakfast/Lunch on Sunday.  A feta cheese omelette was offered, I requested spinach to be added.  So tasty, especially with sliced tomatoes instead of home fries.  Always a good substitution and it tastes better and better as we get into the summer and the Jersey tomatoes are available.

The start of last night’s dinner.  Broccoli, yellow squash, red frying peppers, snow peas, garlic, olive oil and a potato.  The eggplant had to live in the trash can after I cut into it. 😦  I put the potato in the microwave for about 6 minutes before chopping it in small pieces and adding it to this…

Various spices and veggie broth went along into the skillet.

No, I didn’t move to San Francisco.

Here’s a better shot.  This was really tasty.  I’ve put my veggie combos over potatoes before, but never cooked it in with the veggies.  I like it this way.  The potato gets more of the flavor in it.  Yum.

I was falling short on breakfast for a while, but now I’m getting back on track.  I am loving my overnight oats.

With home frozen blueberries, still perfect from last summer! Also with fresh strawberries from the produce market. I’ve eaten the overnight oats cold, but I really love to warm them up.  This new covered bowl that I got at Dollar General for just $2.50 works great.  Cover it in the fridge, off it comes to go into the microwave.  My usual mix is 1/2 cup oats, 1/3 cup of fat-free vanilla yogurt, 1/2 cup almond milk, cinnamon and 1 tsp of chia seeds.  Very tasty.

Oh, yes…we went to Subway, too!

Provolone cheese toasted on a honey oat roll, spinach, onion, jalapenos, sweet and green peppers, black olives and southwest sauce.  So Very Good.  My favorite!

So is that enough food to qualify for What I Ate Wednesday?!?  I feel like I’ve been saving these up, but I really haven’t.  That’s my photo array.  Be sure to go catch up with all of the other wonderful foodie bloggers hanging out at Peas & Crayons .  They love to have visitors and they love to see your comments, so don’t forget to leave some.

I need to go check…if I’m lucky there’s a Law & Order on SOMEWHERE! Doink, Doink!!

Happy What I Ate Wednesday!!

  1. your salad looks wonderful! But, then again, I never met a salad I didn’t like! I remember how Mom used to watch Law and Order all day and all night and make me watch with her. I think I know them all by heart! I had sort of a Law and Order weekend my self. I spent Saturday with Lt. Kojak and Sunday with Perry Mason. I’d say Who Loves You, Baby but that would be irrelevant and immaterial! Oh I do love the oldies!

    • Too funny. Wish we had DVR, I would save all the Perry Masons and watch them. That’s why I like when the have the Suspense Sundays. Irrelevant and immaterial! That was his objection to EVERYTHING!

  2. i spy the red peppers you mentioned yesterday when we were *chatting* groceries!! love your salad!!! and the bowl. it’s awesome how you can really dump anything onto some type of lettuce and make a delicious mix, eh?!
i’ve watched my share of law and orders!! and in canada, too, you can pretty much find a re-run at any time of day. i love when they take a real-life story and dramatize it a bit…but you can still recognize the situation.
learned something new about ralph today (retired from police force) – neat!

    • Cathy, he is my go-to guy and he doesn’t think I’m goofy to be asking questions. I’ve really learned things by watching those shows and then asking questions. I love that big bowl. I’m really a volume eater and I can load that baby up for only a few WW points. Keeps me satisfied and If I don’t have one for a few days, I feel deprived. PLUS I got the bowl for 50 cents at Ele’s rummage sale!!

  3. do you use defroze blueberry?

  4. So funny…I always thought that Ralph reminded me of a police officer/detective! I love that you love those shows…I’ve never checked them out before but I can see how they’d be addicting…

    Happy Wednesday Fran!

    • I just woke up in the middle of the night…the TV was still on. I found a Law & Order on…Ralph came into the bedroom and said to me…”Is that show on 24 hours a day?” I wish! It really is addictive!

  5. I love the look of that huge veggie combo at the end! That’s one of my favorite dishes 🙂

  6. Mmmm feta & spinach omelettes are one of my faves!!

  7. I love visiting your blog on Wednesdays. I always get some great food ideas! 🙂

  8. You manage to find the best-looking omelets! And I love all the veggies you eat, it’s always inspiring to add a few more to my day/meals. Hmm, I don’t know that I’ve ever watched a full L&O episode, I don’t know how I’ve managed that, I feel like they play reruns all the time.

    • Allie, L&O is on all the time! I Love it! It makes Ralph a little crazy, but he puts up with it. He makes me watch survival shows where there eating worms. Which is worse…worms or murder? I know my choice!

  9. Hi Fran,
Happy WIAW! Your veggie combo looks tasty! :-0

  10. All looks good! It’s always so fun to get really into a tv show (esp when the network runs marathons of it!)

  11. That Feta Cheese omelette looks amazing!!!! 🙂

  12. I love the look of your veggie combos and the oats! I’ve been on a major oats kick lately. For some reason I’m still in an autumnal mindset, continually stirring in pumpkin and cinnamon into my yoghurt-y oats!

And I LOVE that book! I read it back in ’09 for one of my honours college humanities courses. It was great! It’s even worth re-reading 🙂 Enjoy!
