Hard Work Rewarded

I know I tried hard all week long to stay on track with my Weight Watchers efforts.  In spite of that I felt off track and I wasn’t certain why.  I was actually not sure what the result would be when I stepped on the scale this morning.  The answer…1 and 1/4 pounds lost!  Am I happy? You bet! 🙂

I have to admit, that I have not done my best at eating 3 meals a day lately.  Breakfast has been off my radar for no reason I can give you.  Yesterday, I woke up Starving.

I went for my recent favorite, the oatmeal/oatbran combo.  Sweet and simple.

Looks a little strange before adding the almond milk and still looks rather boring, but it’s delicious!  It was just what I needed.

When dinner time came, again I was really hungry.  I decided that volume was necessary and for that my first choice is always a salad.

Romaine, celery, red bell pepper, plum tomato, shredded cheese and Morningstar Farms garden veggie burger.  Cooked the burgers up in the microwave while I did all of my chopping.

This was so good!  I wish I could find a cheaper source for the Morningstar Farms burgers.  They are so good and so filling.  I love to use them in salads.  They’re just really expensive.  I should probably check their website to see if you can order them in bulk.  I know enough people who would probably buy them if we could get them at a cheaper price.  That sounds like a project to work on.

This afternoon Ralph, Ele and I are heading to a Philadelphia suburb for a Dr. Who/St. Patrick’s Day/40th Birthday Party.  We can dress up if we want to but I’m not sure if any of us are.  The fun thing is that I think a lot of people will be, so it will be fun to see who comes as what.

With that, I’ll wish you all Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  As my Mom always used to say, “Watch out for the green beer!”

Happy Saturday!

  1. Happy St. Patricks Day! I think they sell Morningstar at Costco, do you have a membership or know anyone that does?

  2. The cheapest I’ve seen the morningstar farms stuff is at Target (like 3.30 a box…compared to 4.30 at stop and shop). Trader Joe’s has them too, but not as much variety!

  3. That burger looks amazing; I’m not a vegetarian but actually prefer veggie sausages and burgers to meat ones… I like plain porridge and oat bran too, sometimes it’s what hits the spot best 🙂

    • Eleanor, Morningstar Farms has a whole line of burgers and they’re all really tasty. Problem is, they’e expensive and it’s sometimes hard to find our favorite varieties. Good bit of protein too. Just started mixing oatmeal/oatbran in recent months. I saw someone do it on a blog. I love it and I prefer it plain nothing added but sweetener and milk.

  4. I think more people would eat healthier if it wasn’t so expensive to do so! The Morningstar Farms products at my store are expensive too. I love the Buffalo Chik’n Wings but only buy them occasionally. They have some of the products in bulk at B.J.’s Wholesale Club but I don’t know if they have one near you?
I make a really good homemade veggie burger. It’s not the the Morningstar Farms but I like it better
1/3 cup beans (I use kidney beans)
1 Tablespoon oatmeal (I use old fashioned)
Couple splashes of soy sauce or worschestershire or your choice
    S & P and desired spices
Smoosh all together, shape into a patty and cook approx 3 minutes per side. Sometimes I use the George Foreman. Simple!
