It’s one of those mornings when I just can’t get myself focused enough to write a post. But I never let the fear of being unfocused keep me from writing, so here we go! 😉
I forgot to share with all of you the photo I took of our big snow storm yesterday.
It’s so funny to post a photo like this when last year we had 3 or 4 huge snow storms and we were stuck inside for days! I can’t really complain about this. Last year made me crazy. It’s beautiful, yes, but after so much snow, this is a welcome relief.
I’ve been spending a lot of time reading. Reading more was one of the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year and is really the only one I seem to have committed to. I have to get back to work on the others but for now, I’m just glad I’m doing one!
This week I finished The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
After hearing so much about it, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I loved it! It grabbed me and held me for the entire book. I can’t wait to read the next two books in the trilogy.
I’m currently reading a book called Skylight Confessions by Alice Hoffman.
I’ve read a lot of her books over the years. Some I’ve liked, some have been just okay and others I’ve hated. This one I’m loving. I’m almost at the end and I hope she doesn’t do something at the end to ruin it. I read her book Local Girls at the end of last year and enjoyed that one. I should find out by the end of the day how it turns out. I found this at Goodwill for 99 cents so at least I got a deal!
If the library comes through, one of my next books will be The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
Also one of “those” books that everyone is reading and you hear about it all over. I may have to start something else before I get it and I’m not sure what that will be. I’ve got quite a collection from my thrift store haul from Florida and from Goodwill, so I won’t be without a book to read, you can be sure of that! 😉
I’m a big fan of the site Goodreads and I’ve set a challenge for myself for the year. I’ve committed to reading 25 books. Over the years I’ve always been a reader, but I’ve gone in and out of periods when I concentrate on reading. I decided this was a time to do that. You can follow my progress by clicking on the 2012 Reading Challenge button on the right side of BCDC. I think for the most part, I waste too much time watching TV and this has helped me to adjust that habit. Still watch a lot of TV, but I’m usually reading a book while I do it!
I’ll leave you with some arbitrarily selected photos from the Florida Botanical Gardens. Mossy trees.
