Where Did All The People Come From?

Monday seemed like a mob scene everywhere we went.  It was Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday and a lot of people must have been off from work.  I know that they were all out on the roads and in the stores.

Our plan was a trip to a thrift store that opened since we were here last.  We had a bit of a hitch and took the wrong road but finally found our way back .  I didn’t have any luck finding anything but Margot got 6 dining room chairs for $40!!  The tricky part was getting them in the van, but we did a jigsaw puzzle thing and they fit!  Great Deal for Margot!

Outside of the back of the thrift store, where we had to go to pick up the chairs we sa a man feeding a lot of big birds, I think there were cranes and herons in the group plus some smaller birds.

We made a stop at a Salvation Army store in the same area.  We stopped and couldn’t figure out why we were just barely able to get a parking spot.  When we got to the front of the store we understood.  Everything in the store was 50% off!! It was crazy in there.  I also didn’t find anything there and none of us wanted to wait in the line to pay.  I actually saw two women fighting over clothes.  It was crazy!

We had a quick lunch at Taco Bell.  I picked a bean burrito.

It doesn’t photograph very well, but it is very tasty.  It counts for 9 points on Weight Watchers, but it’s much more filling than getting 2 soft tacos which I usually get.  It’s 1 point more but worth it because it holds me over for a long time.

For dinner we decided to eat in and it was a matter of everyone doing something for dinner.

I had a Morningstar Farms California Turk’y Burger, brown rice, roasted asparagus, cottage cheese, cranberry sauce and salad.  We made a huge salad so I had a second helping of that.  It was delicious!

Dessert was lime sugar-free Jello with a dollop of fat-free vanilla yogurt on top.  Very tasty!

I want to leave you with a photo I took in the area where the man was feeding the birds.

I thought it was so pretty!  I love when I just stumble upon a photo waiting to happen!

Not sure what Tuesday holds for us.  I’m sure it will be an adventure!

Happy Tuesday!!

  1. LOL – Love hearing all about your adventures and wow – some – yes I said some of the food looks yummy. YOu have introduced me to many good foods and I’ve included them in my “likes” EVEN prunes. Did I say that? too funny – BUT, plain jello, no matter the color, NOT. I’m a texture gal – gotta put something else in there for me to even want to eat it – ha ha. But ya know, I can probably survive without desserts anyway. You’re a doll – have an awesome day!!!

  2. Wow–I’ve never actually seen people fight over items in a store, just hear all the crazy stories! Yeah, definitely not worth it if you ask me. 6 chairs for $40, though–totally worth it. I want to see these chairs your friend snagged!

Definite envy going on here (for all aspects)!
BTW: The bird in the last photo is a great egret; the birds w/shorter necks and longer beaks in the photo w/the storks are ibises…
