No Further Ahead

After my realization yesterday that I was hugely behind regarding Christmas what else could I do but go veggie shopping!  I headed to the local produce market and checked things out.  I didn’t do a group photo as I usually do. Ralph was around and he would really think I was crazy if I started arranging the veggies on the stove.  I got romaine lettuce, yellow squash, zucchini, Gala apples, Roma tomatoes, green bell peppers which were turning red, spinach and the big steal, 3 containers of raspberries for $1.25!!!  I couldn’t believe that.  It will be a big help with staying on track.

Since I couldn’t make myself useful regarding Christmas, I decided to do laundry and shred junk mail.  Then I got a call from my sister, Ele.  She had a bad day at work and needed coffee.  I met her at our favorite spot, Dunkin’ Donuts.  We were met by this crazy guy…

How Cute!

Ele and I were both good…just coffee…no snacks!

I have to weigh in on Saturday and I’m trying my best to get back on track.  Just coffee was good.

I did find myself a little hungry when I got home.  Decided to taste test those Galas that I bought!

Very tasty with sunflower seed butter.  This jar is almost empty…sounds like overnight oats are in my future.  Problem is that then I have to make a pilgrimage to Trader Joe’s to replace it.  After the Christmas traffic has died down. 😉

On the trip to Maine, in an effort to be frugal, I didn’t spend money on anything but meals.  However, in Brunswick, Maine there was a  wonderful natural foods store called Morning Glory.  They don’t appear to have their own website, but I’ve linked to a review page.  It sounds like other people thought it was as great as I did!  Here’s the treat I bought for myself…

I keep hearing about Artisana nut butters on other blogs.  When I saw these individual packets, I decided I needed to try them.  I haven’t opened any yet, but I will soon.  I hear they’re delicious!

Dinner time found me thinking about a Big Ole Salad!  Romaine, bell pepper, tomato, bulgur and canned garbanzo beans.  Need to get some dried ones so I can make my own and then make hummus!  Also some shredded cheese.

Mixed up with bottled balsamic vinaigrette.  Need to start making my own.  It’s probably less expensive.  Anyway…here’s my Big Ole Salad in my Big Purple Bowl.  Yummy and filling! What more could a girl ask?! 😉

Thought I’d share a photo of a handsome man we found standing outside a shop in Boothbay Harbor…

What a great Santa!  Everything in this shop was 50% off because they were about to close for the season.  Really good deals.  Word to the wise…don’t buy a snow globe and try to take it on a plane.  My friend Margot had that happen on the way home.  Security took it from her.  She was Not happy.

Gotta do something constructive today!!

Happy Friday!

  1. Oh TJs Sunflower Seed Butter! How delicious. 🙂 I haven’t tried any of the other Artisana butters (only the coconut, and that was before I realized how easy it is to make your own coconut butter!) I’ll be interested to know how they are.

Speaking of nut butter, I never refrigerate mine unless I have added something perishable to it…like Pumpkin Nut Butter or Sweet Potato Nutty Butter, that sort of thing. I know they say you are supposed to put all ‘natural’ butters in the fridge, but it’s really so they don’t go rancid I think…and I eat them way too fast for that to happen!

  2. Not a huge fan of pecan, cashew or walnut butters, they’re just not that flavorful. For the fat and calories I want something that’s worth it, full of flavor. I am curious to know what you think.

Sunflower butter was not love at first taste, but the deeper in the jar I got, the more I fell in love and now it is one of my favorite nut butters.

    • Marie, I was wondering if they would have much flavor, but I thought this was the perfect chance to give them a try. Not expensive like buying a whole jar then realizing you don’t like it! I Love the dunflower butter!

  3. That Santa is beautiful, very traditional! I would love to try more of the Artisana nut butters. I love the coconut butter and I think you will love those!

  4. Happy Friday to you too and I loved the greeter at the Dunkin Donuts

  5. I’ve always wanted to try cashew butter, it sounds so deluxe! The jars are way too expensive, but I like the idea of the single serve packets. Until I find them, I’ll stick to that sunflower seed butter too–I made a trip to Trader Joe’s just for it earlier this week.
