Work Hard and…

You get what you work for!  After trying hard all week to stay on track with my eating and drinking water I was excited to get to Weight Watchers on Saturday morning.  Regardless of whether I had a loss or stayed the same, I was pretty sure I hadn’t gained again, and certainly not to the extent of last weeks 5 pound gain.  I get there, strip as much as is decently acceptable (especially since my weigher’s name is Frank!) and I lost 3.2 pounds!!  I was very excited.  Frank, not remembering my 5 pounds from last week (How could he with all of the people he weighs?) innocently said, “Were you expecting that?”  Was I expecting that?! After all of my hard work, Dang Right I was expecting that!  It made me very happy and I feel I can head into this week with a positive attitude and I expect to be back where I was before vacation soon.

I had lost  my focus a little.  Even before I started NaNoWriMo I hadn’t been exercising properly, not even my stationary bike.  That used to be my first thing in the morning activity.  With BCDC, I started posting first and would do my bike after.  Now with NaNo, I need to get writing right away so I’ve really fallen off the wagon (or the bike as the case may be.)  I’m getting back on track that way.  Now that I have my pedometer up and running again I’m getting back to my habit of marching in place if I have to stand in one place for a while, either doing dishes, or even during commercials while watching TV.

Gee Whiz!  I’ve noticed something since I’ve been participating in NaNo.  I seem to be rambling here at BCDC.  I think the reason is, with NaNo, the key is quantity over quality.  They have a mug that says, Write Now, Ask Questions Later.  You’re just trying to get the word count in.  I’m confusing the two here.  I’m a ramblin’ kind of girl at the moment.  I’ll try to get that under control.  Anyway, it’s only until the end of November.  We’ll all survive until then!

So back to Saturday.  After my welcome news at WW, I was off to breakfast with Gail and Alice.  I got my usual, usual, not my new usual. (Huh?!?)

Scrambled eggs with sliced tomatoes and dry rye toast.  I’ve been enjoying the cottage cheese on the side, but I need to make a choice.  Tomatoes count for zero Points on WW.  With the cottage cheese, since I’m pretty sure it’s not Fat Free which I use at home, I have to give it 6 Points.  I don’t really like to spend that much when I can get the benefit of the cottage cheese at home for half the Points.  I get a much better bang for my protein buck though with cottage cheese.  I have to decide which I like better. 

The rest of the day was rather uneventful except for writing, and trying to unsuccessfully take a nap, and writing and writing. Oh yes and lunch which looked so good when I saw it that I forgot to take a picture and just devoured it.  Ralph loves the Gobbler sandwiches at WaWa. No, I didn’t get a Gobbler.  I got a pepper jack and cheddar cheese toasted sandwich with roasted red peppers, tomatoes and spinach.  They didn’t have spinach before and I’m excited.  It was big (10″) but it was delicious.  As we say at WW, it was “Points-worthy!”  I will order that again.

I’ve really been enjoying tea in the afternoon (and evening) while I’m writing.

Stash Lemon Ginger Sharpness Herbal Tea.  Figured I could use some sharpness. 😉  I also decided that this should be my new writing mug.  I got it in Florida this summer at a thrift store (of course) for $1.oo! (Of Course!)  It says “Snap Out Of It!”  I figured this was appropriate for those moments when I’m sitting there having a hard time deciding where to go with my story.  I worked long into the evening and then had a cup of my near favorite, The Republic of Tea Ginger Peach.  It helped. 

I feel that I had a productive day on Saturday.  My daily word count total was 2082.  My running total is 22,259.  I can’t believe that I’m almost half way there.  I’m excited and I think I might actually complete this challenge.  It’ll be interesting to see what I think about all of this when I’m finished.

Now it’s Sunday.  I shouldn’t say this too loud, but I’ve slept well for the last two nights and I’m feeling good this morning.  This afternoon, well late morning, I’m actually going to the movies.  Gail, Alice and I are going to see “Anonymous.”  It sounds interesting.  The interesting thing is that I just added something about the production of a Shakespearean play to my novel. Oohh…spooky…

I’ve got to get writing.  Everyone have a wonderful day.

    And Congrats on the weight loss…fabulous! I’d choose tomatoes over cottage cheese any day by the way. 🙂

    # 1 on the New York Times Best Seller list we can all say that we remember when it was just a “word count” on NANOWRIMO ! Keep up the good work!!!

  6. Congrats on getting back on track and losing weight!! It’s hard to do, but it must feel so good when you see the proof on the scale.
    I have to agree that wawa sandwiches are worth the points. They’re my favorite!!

  7. I also need to start exercising FIRST. I get on the computer for an hour or two, then walk the dog, and by then it’s already lunch time and the students that I tutor will be over within a few hours. If I exercised first, then I think that I’d be much better at getting into a routine.

    Stash is my favourite brand of tea. I have to go buy more! I drink tea like a madwoman (do madwomen drink tea?) while writing my novel. I’m so impressed that you’re already past 22000 words. You’re definitely going to make it!
