I Thought Sunday Was A Long Day

With all of my sleep issues lately, some days seem really long, Monday was one of them.  But not all of it was negative.  I had been awake since 2am and up since 3am.  I posted on BCDC and got a lot of writing done for NaNoWriMo.  More on that later.  In an effort to try to get myself back on track, I went back to bed at about 5:30 but I didn’t really sleep.  Oh, well, I guess as long as I’m being productive while I’m not sleeping!

I got up and out to get the last of my Dunkin’ Donuts free iced coffees.

I only missed 2 out of the month of October.  Hope they do this again!  This one was gingerbread.  This was such a long day, I almost forgot this piece as I was reconstructing it!  I took a quick trip to the grocery store and headed home.

I got a call from my best friend Gail and she said it was a day for errands.  We had our scheduled chiropractor appointment at 3pm so we could make a few stops on the way.  I agreed it was a good idea.  We grabbed Alice and we were off.

I had some time before leaving and I realized I was hungry.  I had just enough time to enjoy one of the last of my Honeycrisp apples…

They are so good and I think I only have 2 left.  Must have more, must have more.

When we got on the road our first stop was Aldi’s.  We all love it there, low prices and good selections.  The only real problem is that you can’t be sure what they’ll have in stock from week to week.  Things change and you can go in for a specific item and it won’t be there.  The other bad thing is there isn’t an Aldi in Silver City. It has other plusses!

I decided to try something new.  Kefir!

It’s sort of a liquid yogurt probiotic drink.  Supposed to be good for you.  I’m not a blueberry fan, but my only other choice was strawberry or plain so I picked the blueberry,  I also got some of the Aldi brand Fit & Active yogurt smoothie in mixed berry pomegranate.  Thought I’d give something new a try.  I’ll let you know what I think!

Our next stop was Goodwill, we love Goodwill.  I got a portfolio for Ralph and I found this for me…

A permanent filter for my coffee maker.  I had looked for one of these for a long time and found that K-Mart had the least expensive at $4.99.  I’ve been enjoying using it.  Then yesterday I found this one, brand new for 49 cents!  I figured I could have it for a back up in case I ever drop the other one and step on it.  That’s not as far fetched as it sounds, ask some people who’ve know me a long time…Ele, Gail, Alice, Val… They’ll tell you!

Then we went to see our chiropractor, Dr. Maureen.  She’s great.  I told her about my sleeping issues and the fact that my right leg was hurting.  She did some extra work on it and gave me some exercises to do that she thought would help.

When I got home I got back to my NaNo work.  I ended the day with a total of 2489 words and a running total of  13,018.  I’m happy with how it’s going.  I think from now on I’ll just put my totals at the end of the posts with the NaNoWriMo logo so I don’t have to bore you in the body of the post.

I actually slept really well last night, although both of my legs were very uncomfortable.  I guess that’s because of all the work Dr. M did yesterday.  I feel good and look forward to another good day.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. I love Aldi’s and go there first before going to the big Walmart. I have trouble sleeping also and I think this problem is left over from when I worked at the Academy and was responsible for running four programs at one time. I solved this problem by keeping a notebook by my bed to jot ideas down when they would sneak up on me, stopping me from sleeping the night through. I thought I had solved this when I retired, but no….now my stories keep me up. I do enjoy your posts. Have a nice day

  2. Glad you slept a bit better! I love Aldi and I’m lucky to have one right next to where I work so I usually go and see what I can find in there before going the bigger supermarket 🙂

  3. Nice piece — and my feeling that every day I wake up on the right side of the dirt is a good day — have fun out there!!

  4. Sorry you’ve been having trouble sleeping – but it does sound like you used the time productively.
I went to the chiropractor yesterday too and got some work donw on my shoulder – ouch! It’s worth it though.
I’ve never tried kefir, but I have seen the plain variety in the supermarket over here. Maybe I will buy some next time I go in.

  5. Busy day! And way to get your Nano’ing in! Arggh, I still need to catch up, but I at least have a few ideas of what I want to do now. YUM, apples–I’m completely addicted to pink ladies. I’ve gotta have at least two a day, I don’t know what’s going to happen when apple season is over!

  6. 2489/13,018! Good for you!! and one more weigh-in on the sleep problems: consider switching to decaf if you haven’t already…

    • Hey, Val! I haven’t switched to decaf but I only drink coffee first thing in the morning. Been having herbal non-caffeine teas for later in the day. So frustrating although I slept FOREVER last night. I would like it to even out!

  7. 13000?!? You’re a rock star! I haven’t even opened my story yet today.

    • I keep trying, Steph! I guess the insomnia is helping with NaNo if nothing else!! tee hee. I’m really enjoying the process. Does it make sense, not necessarily but it’s getting written. Thanks for encouraging me to try this. I will be eternally grateful!

  8. Ah. So that’s the magic coffee filter! I’ve never actually been to an Aldi’s, but I have tried kefir (the plain kind even, very tart!)
