Yes, it’s true my head feels like it is truly spinning, so much to tell you all and I feel like I’m a typing machine! Good thing I learned how back in the dark ages in high school! I’m not even sure where to start! Confused? Well, so am I!!
I’m excited because this is my 300th post!! I can’t believe I’ve reached that milestone. I had no clue what I was doing when I started and I’m still not sure I know. I do know that I am having the best time and I’m thrilled how many of you have decided to play along with me. I have to thank Jenn over at Peas & Crayons in part for this. I’m certain that my participation in her fabulous What I Ate Wednesday party is responsible for so many of you finding me. Thanks, Jenn, you are the best! And so are all of you how join in the shenanigans here every day. Thank you all so much!
Now for the reason my head is spinning. For the last few years I’ve heard about National Novel Writing Month. It’s a crazy free for all where for the month of November you write, and you write and you write. Your objective is to complete a 50,000 word novel by November 30. I always thought it sounded like a fun idea and something I might try “someday.” Thanks to my sweet friend Stephanie over at Love Life Project, I have somehow gotten myself mixed into this crazy pot of soup that is NaNoWriMo!!
Stephanie mentioned it on her blog on Monday and asked who was interested in joining the craziness with her. I commented on her post and then started to think about it. I went to the NaNoWriMo link and read up and then like a fool I SIGNED UP! Now they are not going to send the literary police after me if I don’t finish but I’ll feel pretty foolish. Although they may send the LP for what I’m Writing! 😉 The key with this is Quantity Over Quality. They don’t care if it’s good, they just care about the word count.
This is very clever in my mind. Something that you write during that 50,000 words will have to have some merit. Just get it down on paper and worry about organizing and editing later. I know from all my years of writing that the hardest thing is getting started and getting something on paper. In this case it’s getting something on my thumb drive. Yes, I’ve already learned something…How To Use A Thumb Drive. No, I’m not giving a tutorial, just sharing my new skill.
So stick with me, Cookies, I’m diving in!
I’m proud to say or maybe amazed to say that my current word count is 4000. No clue how I got it to come out even, but I did! I’ll keep you all updated. Not sure if this will have any effect on BCDC. I don’t think so, but my posts may be a little shorter for the time being, although this one is showing no signs of it!! 😉
In other news I got a wonderful treat in the mail yesterday.
A wonderful collection of samples from Chimes Ginger Chews! They were kind enough to send me some samples. I’ve tasted the Originals and they are delicious. You have to like ginger because the are potent, but really good. I’m going to be flying in December and I’m definitely taking these with me because I’m not the best flyer and they should help to settle my tummy. As I try the various flavors, I’ll let you know what I think. Thanks to the wonderful folks at Chimes for their kindness.
Ele and I had the opportunity to participate in a Day of the Dead celebration and meditation last night at Serenity Harbor. It was so interesting and we met a wonderful group of people. Hard to explain what happened, I have to think about it for a while.
I’ve mentioned my issues with sleeping or not sleeping as the case may be. Last night I decided, Ralph was right. I needed a drink. He made me a highball…not a “Granny” highball, just a small one. I’ll explain the “Granny” highball to all of you sometime. But what was supposed to be short is getting pretty long here. I’ll consider it warming up my fingers! Anyway I slept through until 7am with only one potty break. I feel great, but now I’m behind.!
I was however, greeted by this beautiful sunrise…
Made me smile and I wanted to share it with you as a thank you for sticking with me to the lofty number of 300!
Time to write! I’ll tell you about my novel as it progresses. This is scary but fun!
