The Birthday Girls Go To Lunch!!

Thursday afternoon, Ralph and I were scheduled to meet with his family to celebrate my birthday and Ralph’s sister Maddie’s birthday.

Balloons from Ralph’s cousin, Lynne-one for Maddie, One for Me…Thank You, Lynne!!

Maddie and Me, taken by me!  I’m sometimes better at this than at other times.  This one is pretty good!

We were having lunch at the Adelphia Restaurant.  My history with this restaurant is not always positive, but I’ve finally found something I really like.  It is the layered caprese salad.

Tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, spring mix, carrots, red onion with a balsamic vinaigrette.

It was delicious!

The flower came with it and reminded me of all the staging we did on Saturday at the wedding!

Happy Birthday to Us!

A better photo of Maddie and Me by Ralph.  I realize that from these photos it looks like it was only Maddie and Me, but the total of our party was 8.  I just thought the focus should be on the Birthday Girls…is that self-centered?   Well, it IS my birthday month right?!? 😉

My portion of cake along with my lovely salad flower!  Did I need to eat another piece of cake?  Of course not.  But that’s all I’ll be eating.  The rest of the cake went home with Maddie and her husband, George.  She’s going to freeze it and eat it when they want to.  I was firm about the fact I didn’t want it coming home with us and thank goodness Ralph backed me on it!

Ralph’s cousin, Kathie brought flowers for each of the Birthday Girls.  Thank you, Kathie!

Please take note of the vase…one of my antique mason jars.  They make a great vase!

So pretty!  I love having fresh flowers in the house…especially when the look like Fall!

There’s no telling what all of this celebrating will mean for my Weight Watchers weigh in on Saturday morning.  I could go without weighing because I am at goal and I only have to weigh in once a month.  But I need to weigh in for me.  I need to know how I’m doing.  It’s one of my best tools for keeping myself on track.  We’ll see.

Happy Friday!!

so did you eat that salad flower? (orchids are kind of peppery). And what lovely (although apparently inedible 🙂 )

  3. Such pretty flowers — and I love that you are still celebrating your birthday — 🙂

  4. Yeah, birthday month continues! I adore fresh flowers, not in the budget right now but I love them so. That salad looks so fresh and great. I am more of a stinky cheese lover. My daughter who’s 10 actually eats bleu cheese by the handful.

    • I don’t spend money flowers either, Marie, but when somebody’s handing them out…I’m accepting! The salad was great. Our family has a long tradition of using Locatelli pecorino romano cheese (made from sheep’s milk) We lovingly refer to it as “stinky feet cheese.” It is SO delicious!

  5. Aww what a colorful and pretty birthday celebration! Happy Birthday! That layered caprese salad looks delish!
