Since we’re celebrating What I Ate Wednesday hosted by Jenn at Peas & Crayons, let’s really celebrate and go to a Wedding!
Earlier in the week you heard about all the doings at the wedding on Saturday, now it’s time to hear about the most important part…The Food!! 😉 As I mentioned, the wedding was held at The Carriage House in Galloway, NJ. Pretty incredible overall.
After the ceremony, there was a cocktail hour with incredible food. We could have just kept eating that, we didn’t need dinner! I started with some cheese and crackers with grainy mustard.
We then moved on to the pasta station.
This was penne with alfredo sauce (and lots of crushed red pepper flakes!) There was also pasta in vodka sauce which I forgot to photograph. Both were delicious! I restrained myself from going back a third time!
At dinner, this was our table.
See…Number Two…that’s why I had to do this in two parts! 😉 Also please, note the real flowers that were part of the centerpiece. They will feature into the food photos.
There was actually a shrimp appetizer, but Gail and I both gave ours to Ralph, so I didn’t photograph that. He was overwhelmed with shrimp and had to share it with someone else! The salad was good, the ranch dressing was light and tasty. Please note the lovely orchid on my plate. When ever Gail is with me and I’m photographing my food, she has to help me stage it. She’s actually very good at it!
Raspberry (I think) sorbet to cleanse the palette. Note the flower. Please pay no attention to the bite missing from the sorbet! 😉
Our vegetarian entrée was rigatoni with a cheese sauce with broccoli, zucchini and red pepper. Flower accompaniment again. Gail and I decided that although our entrée pasta was good, we would have been happier if they gave us a plate of the cocktail hour pasta, either the vodka sauce or the alfredo or both! They were just more flavorful.
Gail started to get carried away…an orchid in my champagne, really? Forgot how much I like champagne. I took the flower out first, of course!
I have to be honest that to me, wedding cake is most of the time just ok. This was easily the best wedding cake I’ve ever had. When I started eating the cake, it was so good, I ate the cannoli (yummy) and the brownie (delicious and nutty) first and left the rest of the cake to finish it last. I actually went back out to see if there was more. It was a white and chocolate cake and there was only chocolate left. I would have had a second piece and I’ve Never done that with wedding cake!
All in all, it was a Wonderful Wedding, with delicious food. We had a great time and were so glad to be part of the celebration.
