Happy Birthday-Part One

My niece Mary always used to celebrate her birthday for the entire month of September.  I think I’m going to do that.  Some of our plans for the day didn’t quite work out so in order to get them in, My Birthday Must Continue!!

Ralph wanted to start by taking me out to breakfast which I thought was a fine idea.  We had to run an errand first and when we got back in the car, he asked me where I’d like to go for breakfast.  I told him The Drifter (one of our favorite breakfast spots in New Mexico!)  He paused for a minute, then looked at me and laughed.  He said that he was actually sitting there trying to decide if he needed to turn left or right!  I told him we could get there either way! 😉

He thought it was pretty funny, but we decided on the Hollywood Cafe in Woodbury Heights.  We wanted someplace that we don’t go all the time.  Our last few experiences here have been much improved from previous ones so we thought it was a good idea.

Since it was my birthday, Ralph said he wouldn’t draw for the waitress, but he cannot keep his fingers still.

He’s like the Energizer Bunny Artist, he keeps going and going and going…

Happy Birthday to Me!!

I had the Hollywood Omelette-feta cheese, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and peppers.  Sliced tomatoes instead of potatoes.  It was really good and our waitress was very sweet.  She even took our picture for us!

Somehow I always have this green sweater on when I’m getting my picture taken in a restaurant!!  I like it so what does it matter and it’s my Birthday, my choice!

We came home and just puttered around the house.  Ralph was gathering what he’ll need for a project this weekend which includes a campout with our two grandsons.  He’s looking forward to that!

We’ve made the commitment to retrieve our grandson Alex from a school he’s attending every afternoon for the next few weeks.  Then our son Bill picks him up when he finishes work.  Bill was working in Philadelphia and got home later than usual.  Ralph missed that piece of the communication. Bill didn’t get to our house until about 6:45pm.

We had planned to go out to dinner but leaving that late would not allow us to get home in time to watch The Big Bang Theory.  We’re such geeks and didn’t want to miss it.  So that dinner will be rescheduled for early next week. (Works with my “extend my birthday” plans, don’t ya think?!?!)

We were very hungry so we just went 2 blocks away to Picasso’s Pizza.  I’m so boring when I go there.  I love their pepper and egg sandwich and that’s pretty much all I ever order.  You can’t find it in a lot of places, so I’m happy whenever we decide to go there.

With American cheese…simple and delicious.  We had fun making fun of the ESPN guys who were on the TV there.  They had really bad transmission and the nose of one of the guys kept growing every time he moved his head.  He looked like Steve Martin in “Roxanne!”  It was fun!

We got home in time to see The Big Bang Theory and I got to watch Project Runway while Ralph napped.  All in all I think it was a terrific birthday with more celebrations to come!

Even the trees decided to dress up for my Birthday!

At least they’re starting too.  Brace yourself, Cookies, for many more Autumn tree photos as the weeks go on.  I love Autumn and I love the change of the trees.  It’s one of the things I will miss about New Jersey once we leave.   😦

So I’m off to start the day.  I’ll have to see what kind of celebrations I can fit in today.  I started by making my own pumpkin spice coffee and it’s very good.  All you do is add pumpkin pie spice to the coffee grounds.  Just be sure to stir it in otherwise it causes a barrier.  The water won’t be able to get through and sometimes it will overflow.  Try it, it’s Yummy!!

Happy Birthday Number Two!  It’s Friday…Yikes, I have to weigh in tomorrow!!  It’ll be fine! (I Hope and if not, I have an excuse…it’s My Birthday!!)

  1. Brave, brave, brave to ANYBODY who goes camping with Ralph — LOL!!! And don’t feel bad abut extending your b-day celebration … mine runs all of July and even into August — I LOVE my birthday — 🙂 Have fun — make it count — oxo

  2. Awww, you shouldn’t have to weigh yourself during your birthday MONTH! The trees are beautiful and I won’t get sick of seeing them because I live in Southern CA and we just don’t get those vibrant colors.

  3. Sounds like you had a nice day! 🙂
