Our Sunday dinner plans were to go to Julian’s Little Italy, a restaurant that we only discovered on our trip here in June. I hadn’t tried it, but Gail and Alice had and thought it was pretty good.
We were waiting until later in the day and I snacked on some strawberries while I worked on the computer.
Gail had gotten them earlier in the week and we had been enjoying them with our breakfast cereal. These were Huge and perfect for snacking. They held us over until dinner.
When we walked into the restaurant, I was struck by how good it smelled in there. Usually an indication of the experience to come. Fortunately, in this case, it was an accurate indication.
If you add $2 to the cost of your entrée, you get the full meal which includes salad, 3 bean salad, soup and garlic bread. I had to pass on the soup because both choices had meat in them. But that was only a small snag. I probably wouldn’t have been able to finish my dinner if I had soup.
My salad with balsamic vinaigrette and the side of bean salad. I added the bean salad to the regular salad and it was delicious mixed with the vinaigrette. It was a terrific combination and very tasty.
Then my dinner came…the Baked Ziti al Forno…ziti, the “secret ricotta” mix, sauce and melted mozzarella.
It definitely qualifies for Bigger Than My Head! The important thing is…it was delicious. Their sauce is just right, so tasty. Alice requested some for us to dip our bread in and it was delicious just plain. Alice had mentioned to our waitress that it tasted like it had cooked all day. The waitress said that it had!!
As dinner progressed, I kept saying I was going to have to take it home. In the end, I didn’t take it home…I ate it all. I was so full, but it was so good! It was definitely worth the wait from June to get to eat there. I think that will be our new favorite Italian restaurant here!
Not sure what our schedule holds for today, but I’m sure it will be some kind of fun!!
