I was very lucky on Monday. Smooth sailing all the way.
Ralph and I were out of the house by 6am and on our way to the airport. No problem at all getting to the airport. Our only issue was that neither of us had driven into the Philadelphia Airport in a while and it looks different. But we were there in plenty of time, we said our goodbyes, I got my boarding pass and I went in search of my line to stand in for security.
Glad we got there early because there was probably a 20 minute or more wait to get through security. Hate that part. Nothing on me glowed or dinged so I went through pretty quickly and I was on my way to wait some more.
I flew Southwest Airlines and I think they are my favorite these days. In spite of the fact that my flight stopped in Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh?!?!?) it was a very comfortable, smooth flight. Only had to use the restroom once because I had not been drinking all morning (Not easy for me!!) 😦
Got in right on time and as I called Gail to let them know I had landed, they were just pulling into the airport! Great Timing! It took them about 10 minutes to find me because Orlando is a Huge airport. But they found me and we were off to find food.
We went to Chili’s which I hadn’t been to in a long time. I was so hungry, forgot the photos again! There was a lunch special of 2 mini burgers and a choice of sides. Gail and I asked it that could be made with their black bean burger. The answer…Yes!! We were excited, Came with a side salad and fries. Salad was mine, the Girls ate my fries. Happy to share with them!!
It was a long ride from Orlando to Clearwater. The reason…my Welcome to Florida Thunderstorm!!
We actually went through 3 storms on the way to Clearwater. Fortunately, Gail is a very good driver and she didn’t let it worry her. Personally, I was closing my eyes a lot in the back seat of the van…it was scary!
We relaxed around the house for the rest of the afternoon until it was time for dinner. We went to one of our old favorites, The Island Outpost. We like it there. The people are friendly and they have music every night. Our old friend Sully was playing. Should have taken his photo but then…
We were there for the food!
Meet the Tropical Salad, my new best friend. It has lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, olives, mango, pineapple, papaya. Served with a honey mango dressing. Gail always requests feta cheese on the side which comes in a bowl big enough for us all to share. The feta adds just that little extra tang. It was delicious and as many times as I’ve been there, I’ve never ordered that before. It was worth the wait. Definitely qualifies for Bigger Than My Head!
The rest of the evening was rest, recuperate and rehydrate after a long dry day of flying.
Tuesday should be interesting. We’re going to a screenwriter’s group with Gail’s brother, Ray. I attended his other writer’s group with him in June and I learned a lot.
And We’re Off!!
Happy Tuesday!! 🙂
