Build A Breakfast And Beans And Broccoli

Don’t get nervous, this was not all in one bowl!  Actually, it became more like brunch because I had the opportunity to do something exciting in the morning…

I went to my first yoga class!!  Yoga is something I’ve been wanting to try for a long time and now I have the time, so I made the opportunity!  I explained to the instructor I had never done it before.  She asked if I had any trouble with my knees.  I asked “Besides being old and creaky?”  She laughed and said it would be fine.  She told me to follow her and the other members of the class and do things slowly.  She told me that if there was anything I felt I couldn’t do, just go back to the resting position.

I’m going to have to learn the names of the positions but I felt I did pretty well until we got to one of the side thingys where I was balancing on my knee with one of my legs out.  Boom!  Right down on the floor.  No one pointed and laughed so I decided I was in the right place.  The hardest thing for me though is getting up off of the floor once I’m down there, so my efforts to get back up were pretty amusing.  Still no pointing and laughing so I figured I had found a home.

I must say that the way I felt after I was finished was amazing.   My body felt loose and I really felt like I’d worked out.  I thought I would be stiff like a stick this morning but no aches other than my usual…I take that as a Victory!! 🙂

When I got home I decided it would be a good idea to run off to get some sorely needed produce and I made a quick trip to Verchio’s.  Around 10am must be the time to go.  Very few cars in their usually busy lot.  Victory number 2!

Brunch was simple but tasty.

Chobani Lemon yogurt, a banana fresh from the stand, almost last of the blueberries and the last of the strawberries ( 😦  ) topped with Fiber One.  The addition of the banana really helped to fill me up.  It was delicious!

It was my decision that because of the heat, I didn’t feel like doing anything yesterday and so I didn’t.  I spent the day reading.  Finished the Mia Farrow book which I enjoyed.  If I’d had the chance to decide if I’m going to do a Book Blog, I could be writing my first review.  Maybe that’s what I should have done yesterday afternoon!  The more I think about it, the more I think it’s a Yes.  I’m going to keep notes on what I read so I can add some books I’ve already read once I get it up and running.  You’ll all be the first to know!!

Ele had asked me to help her go through some boxes in the basement and I went over late in the afternoon.  Unfortunately, we didn’t find the boxes she intended for us to go through. But we did get to go through a few.  Every step helps.  Ralph decided he would head to MacDonald’s to grab some dinner so that left me on my own when I got home.

I was the lucky one because I had put my black beans in the crock pot before I left for yoga.  The beautiful result…

Before Gail and Alice left for Florida, they cleaned out their fridges and I got the goods.  Alice had given me a huge bag of broccoli.  I put it in the freezer because I didn’t expect to use it right away.  I pulled it out earlier in the day to let some defrost.

I later microwaved it for just a bit because I’m not a fan of raw broccoli.  When I got home from Ele’s it was ready for major salad in the Big Purple Bowl!!

Sam’s spring mix, broccoli, green bell pepper, Jersey plum tomato and Fran’s Black Beans!!  Yum!

The lovely mix topped with Ken’s Asian Sesame with Ginger and Soy.  Quickly becoming one of my faves!!  I was full for the night!

Stared reading Portia De Rossi’s Unbearable Lightness.  Very interesting so far.  I am noticing one of my Big pet peeves about books in general lately.  Typos!!  The wrong word being used which should have been corrected by a proof reader or editor and words being left out.  But I guess that’s a rant for another blog… 😉

Today Tai Chi!!  And then the Chiropractor!!

Happy Wednesday!!

  1. Maybe if the yoga works out, the chiropractor will not be needed 🙂

And good thing you clarified the post title – the words ‘breakfast’, ‘beans’ and ‘broccoli’ most definitely do not belong in the same sentence!
