Feeling Like I Know What’s What!

Wednesday looked like a beautiful day from the start.  Ralph and I are both amazed at the weather over the past week.  We keep saying how much it reminds us of the weather in New Mexico.  It’s pleasant, the windows are open and it’s comfortable to sleep at night.  That’ll have to do for now.

I got up and did my 45 minutes on the exercise bike.  I’m so used to the 30 minutes that the extra 15 really feels like an effort, but I’m sure after about a week of it, it’ll feel as natural as the 30.  I feel like I’m getting more back on track each day and that makes me feel good.

I started of with Greek yogurt and Fiber One.

This was my first time trying the Yoplait Greek yogurt.  I bought it because Walmart didn’t have any Chobani which is my usual fav.  I had the honey vanilla variety and it was really tasty.  Tasted more vanilla than honey, but it was very good.  That really is one of my favorite breakfasts.  It holds me over even if I’m not likely to have time for lunch.

I finally got the chance to go to Verchio’s for produce.  I got so much, I need two photos!! 🙂

Romaine, green and red bell peppers (yum!), carrots, navel oranges, cantaloupe and pineapple.  The cantaloupe and pineapple will need a few days to ripen but they will be worth the wait.  In the meantime…

Red delicious apples, fuji apples, bananas and plum tomatoes.

Funny how it’s so much easier to stay on track when you have the right things on hand.  The available produce is truly one plus to living in New Jersey.  We haven’t even gotten to summer yet!  Just wait for that! 😉

I spent most of my day at Gail’s house pitching in and since she’s trying to get back on track, it helps me too.  We shared a bag of popcorn and each had a Tootsie Pop.  The Tootsie Pops really are a good tool.  One Point on Weight Watchers and they can really hold you over.

Ele had made bean soup for Ralph with ham bone from Easter (no comment) so I only needed to make my own dinner.  Salad for me!

Spinach, romaine, plum tomatoes, red and green bell peppers and crock pot black beans.  I added lots of ground black pepper and dried basil.  I’m enjoying making my own balsamic vinaigrette.  I added more ground black pepper and garlic powder to it.  It was delicious!

I also added in some sunflower seeds ( I always seem to forget them in the photos!)  With some saltines on the side, it was great!

It kept me satisfied all evening.  I did start to crave a little something sweet very late.  Fortunately, I had the second of the huge fuji apples that Gail had given me and that did the trick.  I felt very happy with my choices.

Remember my plan to try to add steps and get to 10,000?  I marched whenever possible.  While doing dishes, while at Gail’s when we were watching TV (with her pointing and laughing at me!!) in the evening at home while watching TV.  It was great.  The result…

10,105!!  I was excited!!  It wasn’t that hard.  I just need to keep myself reminded that I have to do it.  Ralph laughs at me and says that people are going to think I have a nervous condition.  I actually don’t care.  They can think what they want.  Growing up, kids made fun of me for being overweight.  They can now make fun of me for this, but at least I’m slim!!

Did my 45 minutes on the bike already…time to start stepping!!

Happy Thursday!! 🙂

  1. People who make fun of you can suck eggs! You are ten times healthier than most people and you could pass for 45 or 50 easily. I don’t think that kids ever realize how their teasing can have life long effects on others. Case in point…my hair. I was so excited with my beans. It’s probably been 15 years since I’ve done dried beans. But I’ve still got it, baby! I’m going to get limas and make thelima bean bake. I’ll use Baco’s so that you can have some, too.
