Wearing of the Green

Yes, St. Patrick’s Day…the happiest day of the year for the Irish.  The day threw me off a little from the start.  I got up and did my 30 minutes on the bike and posted to BCDC but I didn’t do my meditation practice.  I knew I had an appointment for the hairdresser at 9:30 and I needed to get out on time.  Also Ralph and I were meeting his sisters and cousins for St. Patrick’s Day lunch so I had to adjust somewhere.  I knew I could get my practice in later in the evening.

Ralph was up and around before I left for my appointment so I felt there was no problem with him being ready for our date by the time I got home.  Apparently he was in a daze.

When I got home I told him I needed to put some makeup on and that it wouldn’t take me long.  That didn’t even spark his curiosity.  When I was finished, made up and in my green sweater he asked me if I wanted to ride with him to the ATM to get money.  I mentioned that it was kind of early to leave and we could stop on the way to the restaurant.  He said “Am I taking you to lunch?”  Is he taking me to lunch?!?!?  No dear, we’re meeting your family for St. Patrick’s Day lunch, remember?  (did ya notice the makeup and green sweater?!?!)

It all worked out just fine and we arrived at the restaurant on time. We were meeting at the Adelphia Restaurant in Deptford.

I have personally had a love/hate relationship with this spot for a number of years.  But Ralph’s family always picks this for our family lunches/dinners so I don’t comment.

I thought I’d try something other than my usual salad.  I ordered the Cheese Quesadilla and a side salad.  Their side salads are always good, rather large for a side salad which I appreciate.  I got it with their balsamic vinaigrette which is very tasty.  I enjoyed it.

However the quesadilla was not really “as advertised.”  First of all it came with french fries…with quesedilla?!?!  I had asked for it without them, but they came anyway.  The menus stated that it would be Monterey Jack cheese (yum), green peppers and onions with guacamole, sour cream and salsa.

There were no peppers or onions on it and the “salsa” was like marinara sauce!  Not good at all.  The guacamole was good, but they served it with a big slab of avocado in the cup it came in.  They should have left that out and given me more guacamole.  I ate about one and a half slices with the guacamole and sour cream (you can’t mess that up when it comes in a little pre packaged tub!) It was very disappointing and I didn’t want to cause a fuss being with Ralph’s family.

We did have an enjoyable time, but no one else wanted coffee after so we said our goodbyes and went to Barnes & Noble for coffee.

I have been enjoying their Cinnamon Dolce lattes lately.  Especially since I can get it fat-free and sugar-free, they only count for 4 points on Weight Watchers.  I had it as a frappachino yesterday and I’m not sure, if it counts the same.  I haven’t gotten around to calculating yet.  All I know is that it tasted like a cinnamon bun in a glass.  It was so good!  I hadn’t had that impression of it when I drank it hot.  It was delicious and Ralph got regular coffee and got sucked into the “for 10 cents more you can get the GIANT coffee” sales pitch.

Of course, even though we were “just going for coffee” we both got pulled in.  Here is are my treasures…

It wasn’t my fault…they were buy 2 get 1 free…I can’t be held responsible.  I was only disappointed because later I realized that I had a 15% off coupon that I got by e-mail…oh well, guess I need to go back!

One is Meditations for Women Who Do Too Much.  It’s set up like a day book and has interesting quotes for each day.  I may share some.

Also while there, we got sucked into looking at the Nook Color.

NOOKcolor screen

As it turns out, you can do a lot more than just read books on it.  It’s a consideration for the future, not right now.  It was fun though getting some information about it and according to the young lady we spoke with, B&N offers free classes to help you learn how to use it.  Now how great is that?!?  Hmmm… wonder if that 15% coupon would work on the Nook?

Had some issues with snacking in the evening, but finally got it under control and got my meditation practice in.  I’m still hoping for success on Saturday, so we’ll see.  Happy Friday to all!

  1. My experiences at Adelphia have been negative, negative, negative. The service is usually unacceptable and the food is marginal at best and usually cold. I have yet to see why people go there.

Glad you got your meditation practice in. I’ve been walking at the park after work each day. I know I look like a crazy old lady swinging her blue and black beads but I just don’t care any more what people think. Tonight I may start a bonfire in the barbeque and set effigies of people I hate on fire! Want to join me? I have marshmallows to roast after I’m finished!

  2. I’ve only eaten there for the reception at my cousin’s wedding. That was excellent, but I probably just had one or two pieces of spanikopita. Sorry your lunch was so disappointing. Vegetarian Chinese food soon to make up for it?! 😉

back up a minute – fat-free and sugar-free Cinnamon Dolce latte and it’s STILL 4 points?!? What gives there?
And while we’re on the subject what’s all this about protein? What happened to fiber??
Glad you and Ralph had a good time

    • Ralph keeps telling me I need to eat fish to get enough protein. I don’t want to. I’m tracking my protein so that I have facts to prove to him that I get sufficient protein. I have to recalculate the latte. I had it only fat-free not realizing I could get it sugar free also and it was 4 points. I think the sugar free addition should make it 2 points, that’s what Kristen told me last week.
