The Power to Persuade

How lucky we are when the day starts with this kind of sky…

I couldn’t believe how beautiful!  For years I’ve nagged people to look at sunrises and sunsets.  I even wrote a poem about it years ago.  Maybe if I get brave sometime, I’ll post it here…maybe not.

Funny coincidence yesterday morning.  Ralph had to go for blood tests and since he had to fast, I figured he’d be hungry and since we would be close to a particular establishment, I decided to grab some coupons that had been hanging around the house for a while.  I was waiting for him to say “where would you like breakfast?” Instead he said, “how would you like to go to Dunkin’ Donuts?” He was amazed when I said I had the coupons in my bag.  He mentioned it several times during the day that I was so smart to have thought ahead…well he didn’t exactly say it that way, but he did mention the thinking ahead part! 😉

We discussed the Art.

As he was watching the news on TV, he said “why are you taking pictures of everything?”  He just doesn’t listen!

By the time we got there, I really needed coffee and boy did this taste good!  I had the Veggie Egg White Omelette on Flat bread and it was tasty to be sure.  I’d had it before and really enjoyed it.  Later, thanks to the wonders of the Interweb, I was able to figure out that it counted as 7 points on Weight Watchers.  As I’ve said before, it depends on if it tasted good enough to be worth the points…It Did! Fresh, soft, not greasy.  Good choice.  Oh, and the coupons… we saved $3.00! 🙂

Lunch was another of my Ole wraps made with Trader Joe’s baked tofu, Teryaki this time.  Joined by Dijon mustard, Romaine and grape tomatoes (finally finished off what I got a the produce place 2 weeks ago…guess I need to get back there!)

Dinner was another of my stir fries (am I boring?!?) with garlic, olive oil, zucchini, Portobello mushrooms, red pepper and spinach over Basmati rice…

Love those steaming food shots! 🙂

I was happy and satisfied, but sadly, I got hijacked by my Valentine present again.  I truly just need to not have that kind of thing in the house.  I never mentioned what it was and I refuse to take a picture of it (that makes it real, right?!!)  It was an all dark chocolate Whitman Sampler.  Yikes!  I think today I’m going to put it down in the basement which will make it much less easy to get to!  The spiders and cobwebs will keep me out of there at night.

Haven’t talked about books much lately, haven’t been too enthused about anything I’m reading. Still working on This Crazy Vegan Life by Christina Pirello.  But I had used my B&N Christmas gift cards for this…

The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson.  I had read the first book in the series, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo last summer and although it wasn’t what I expected, I enjoyed it.  I had heard mixed reviews on the second book-some loved it-some hated it, but since it was free, I decided to give it a try.  Started it this morning and it’s pretty good so far.  I need to try to get more reading into my day.  I always read on my exercise bike in the AM but if I try to read in bed, I fall asleep.  I need to work on that.

So that’s life at the moment.  I’ve got a lot of things I want to do today.  But that book keeps calling me…

  1. Your poems are wonderful, you really should post them so that someone besides me and the NJ Poets Society know that you are a great poet!
