The Best Laid Plans…

Today was our first day back at Weight Watchers after two weeks off for the holidays.   Our little group had planned to go to breakfast at the Harrison House Diner in Mullica Hill…however, this is what I woke up to…

Another beautiful day in Southern New Jersey…

My snow-covered back yard!

My gazebo bird feeder ( a little worse for wear..)

Kristen and I had talked about a stop at the Amish Market which we both love and a stop at Natural Harvest Market and Cafe which we had just heard about, both in Mullica Hill.  Sadly, as you can see from the photos…that was not to be.

We had a very enthusiastic WW meeting.  Mary Lou always makes it fun and encouraging.  I was not happy especially because I had to pay for the first time in about 6 months 😦  Well, it’s always a learning experience.  I know what I did wrong and I know what I need to do.  I need to think before I eat, write it down and keep out of the house the foods that I have trouble with.  Simple enough, but now to accomplish that.  Part of my afternoon will involve making a shopping list for my shopping trip tomorrow morning.  Good things in the basket, problematic things NOT in the basket.  After yesterday’s soup, I’m really in a soup mood so I’ve got to check my recipes to see that I have everything at hand, especially if we’re going to keep getting all of this snow!

After class, as the snow was still coming down pretty heavily, we made  our way to the Hollywood Cafe.  The choice was so much more practical since Hollywood is across the street from the WW center.  It wasn’t far for us to go and not too far for any of us to get home afterwards.  I’ve had my ups and downs with this diner.  In fact the first time Ralph and I went there, our waitress had a nervous breakdown and left the diner!  We were left to sit there waiting, when someone finally noticed we were sitting there (after 45 minutes.)  Another time, a waitress passed us with a tray filled with water glasses and proceeded to dump them all in Ralph’s lap!  Fortunately, it was summer time!  Needless to say, I’m apprehensive whenever I go there.

Today was a completely different and much more pleasant experience.  There were six of us and we had a table near the window so we could keep an eye on the snow’s progress.  The coffee was excellent and our pleasant server was very attentive and kept my cup filled!  My breakfast choice was a Hollywood omelette which included tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, peppers and Feta cheese.  Served of course with home fries which thanks to Kristen, I remembered to request with onions.

As usually happens after WW, I was very hungry and started eating before I took the picture!  It was delicious and I finished the whole thing.  I was good and only ate a little of the home fries and only one slice of toast with one of my favorites-marmalade-yum.  And did I say that the coffee was excellent…oh, yeah I said that…3 cups later, I still wanted more, but it was getting close to our departure.

Our merry group…

Barb, Kristen and Debbie…

Me, Pat and her Mom, Rose…

It was so nice to have Rose along with us.  She reminds me of my Mom and is spirited just like Mom was. It was great fun to meet and get to know her.  We’ve decided we’re going to try to go to breakfast once a month, chosing a different diner each time.  We’re going to try for the Harrison House for the next get together.  Hopefully, we’ll get there and Kristen and I will get to go on our market adventure…of course it will be February and as we learned today…the best laid plans…

Time to think about soup and do my shopping list!!

  3. Uh — apparently I forgot I did start one (that I don’t use). Puzzled, I clicked on my photo which showed with my comment to you and there was my blog. Guess that’s a hint!

    • Well, get moving on it, Toots!! I went to it and tried to leave a comment, but I didn’t see a spot. I have Kristen to thank for this. She told me about hers and has helped me all along the way. I think I’ll keep her! Thanks for checking it, please keep coming back when you have a chance. I feel like I’m actually doing something with writing…maybe it will encourage me further. Take care, sweetie!
