Late day post and still no list!!

It’s around 5 in the afternoon and I have to confess I lied!  I did not start the list, but sadly I am a procrastinator!  However, I am not a slug! I got a lot of work done yesterday, going through clothes, weeding out what I don’t wear or need anymore.  I ended up with 2 bags which was a total of 3 (counting the one in the car) to go to Goodwill.  I was out fairly early to get them over there.  When I came home I got back to work on organizing the clothes in the bedroom.  Started a new bag for Goodwill and got most of the clothes I wear regularly organized and where I can find them.  I have more to do, but I’ve achieved more space in the bedroom.  The room is chock full of storage bins that I’ve already packed.  I can’t put them anywhere else at the moment, but I needed to get them out of the way.  I accomplished that and it gave me enough room that I will now be able to do my “Walk Away the Pounds” videos.  I did my 30 minutes on the exercise bike this morning, but I really need to get in some more exercise.  Since the weather isn’t really cooperating, my videos are my best bet.  I’m going to do it tonight and make a deal with myself that I will do one of them every night.  Hey, that sounds like that might be the number one on my list.

1.  Get More Exercise!

I’m so impressed with myself! 🙂  I know I need more exercise.  I used to be very good at work about taking the stairs instead of the elevators ( the scare me…creepy!) My pedometer was steaming!  But at home, the house is so small, it hardly seems to make a difference how much I move back and forth through the house, there’s nowhere to go and I can’t get any extra steps in!! 😦   The videos will be a help.

As I’ve mentioned before, books are one of my favorite things.  I was fortunate enough to get several Barnes & Noble gift cards for Christmas.  I decided to put them to use and get some things that will help me with my blogging progress as well as my health progress.  Here are my purchases:

I’ll talk about the 2 cookbooks as I go through them, but I’m very much enjoying reading “This Crazy Vegan Life” by Christina Pirello.  I’ve been a fan of hers for years starting with her PBS show.  This book is very instructive and I’m learning a lot.  I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get to being a total vegan, but I do feel certain that my vegetarianism has had a positive impact on my health and my life.  I can’t put a date on it, but I’d say it’s probably 20 years.  I started Weight Watchers in March of 1987 and I probably stopped eating meat a few years after that so I’m saying 20 years.  I feel it’s made a true difference in my life.  In spite of some of the strange comments I get, I’m sticking with it.  Fortunately, Ralph is supportive although he does try to get me to eat fish.  He thinks that still makes me vegetarian.  I just try to work around him.  He’s pretty cute, so I’ll humor him.  What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him!  Time to find out what’s for dinner?!?!

  1. you are welcome to come to my house while I’m at work and walk up and down the stairs if you like. They are not scary at all and the sun shines in the window and you can watch the birds and squirrels!

  3. I love workout DVDs for at home workouts. I use them pretty regularly to get in more exercise.

      Thanks for your comment! Yes, I’ve always found that if I think I’m going to a gym for a workout, I know I won’t. I’ve wasted a lot of money joining gyms that I go to once or twice and then that’s it. That’s why I opt for the home front. If it would warm up here, I’d get back to my morning walks which makes me feel so much better. Hope to hear from you again!

  4. I can’t wait for Appetite for Reduction! It’s by Isa, right? She’s written so many awesome vegan cookbooks. I have Veganomicon and Vegan With A Vengeance, and neither one has scared me off. :-p
