I started out the week with The Gilly Salt Sisters by Tiffany Baker.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were richly drawn and in my head I was involved with their lives. As I read, I kept giving them advise, telling them to do or not do something. I love a book with a touch of magic in it. Here you’re never really sure if there’s magic but it makes it more enjoyable to think there is. Well worth the read, give it a try.
I jumped into The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis the second installment of the Chronicles of Narnia, although Goodreads calls it the first.
I’m enjoying the series. I’ve said this about other books, I don’t know how I missed reading these books all these years. Lewis weaves his characters in such a way that you either love them or hate them, as is appropriate to the story. I didn’t realize when I read the first book, The Magician’s Nephew, but I believe it was true with that book as well. I felt like he was there telling me the story rather than I was reading it. Such fun…I have five to go now. I’ll probably feel sad when I’m finished the series.
I’m enjoying my current read, Think Twice by Lisa Scottoline.
I’ve said before that I had no idea Scottoline had written so many books in general and this one is number thirteen in the Rosato & Associates series. I know I’ve missed a few in the series. I’ve been reading them mostly (as Usual!) from Goodwill and thrift store finds. A few months ago, I found four of them and I’ve been able to read at least this group in order which has been helpful to get a real feel for the series. Think Twice has really captured my interest. In fact, I’d like nothing better than to spend this rainy day reading. We’ll have to see how that works out!
Hoping that the weather improves because I do have some outdoor things I need to accomplish. Why does it always rain on the day I want to go grocery shopping?! Just my luck.

I’ve found that I go in and out of reading mass quantities. I’m really challenging myself now. It was a comes and go kind of thing before, but now I’m making it a focus. You’ll get to it! Have a great day!

i JUST finished maeve binchy’s circle of friends yesterday aft. loved it, and i give it ***1/2 stars and now i should rent the movie. i am now starting john irving’s latest, in one person.
thanks for sharing about your reads – i have never been a cs lewis fan but the gilly salt sisters sounds intriguing! i love books where you think about the characters when you are not reading!
Hi Cathy! I have enjoyed most of John Irving’s books. I have one of his more recent ones sitting in my TBR pile, of course from Goodwill. Haven’t gotten to it yet. Glad you finished Maeve and enjoyed it! I just figured I should read the Chronicles. They’re short. Have a great day!

Hi Tammy! I’m really enjoying the Chronicles. I always have problems with Scottoline’s books, dumb personal book quirks of my own. This seems like one of the better ones. I do hate when a character talks in circles to the people who could help her and doesn’t make clear what happened. Like making sure they have her name right to begin with. Hi Laurel! I ordered a Scottoline book for my Nook now can’t find it. Guess I have to make a trip to B&N to have them help. I get most of mine from Goodwill or thrift stores.

I loved the Chronicles of Narnia books as a kid and I am definitely planning to reread them at some point. Hope you enjoy the rest of them as much as you enjoyed the first one.

I had borrowed The Gilly Salt Sisters when it first came to our library but had to return it unread. I need to request it again, I’ve seen it both on your site and Sheila from Book Journey’s currently reading list in the same week
. I love stories with a hint of magic as well and the cover is simple, elegant and stunning. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is one of those books I never read as a kid but wanted to. I think I will read that for my animal adventure or kid’s fiction for the Back to the Classics Challenge I am taking. Thanks for the great ideas!

I am still reading Beautiful Creature, but I’m almost done. The book is SO good! I think I’m going to dive into Maze Runner after this one.
