Happily, last week I decided to join in the meme (hmm…having trouble getting used to that word, but yes, meme) It’s Monday! What Are You Reading! Hosted by the lovely Sheila at Book Journey. I was excited, but the lovely Sheila forgot to post last week and I thought I was crazy when I kept trying to link up and couldn’t, not realizing until too embarrassing a length of time that I was attempting to link to the post from the previous week!! That’s Ok, Sheila, we love you anyway, So here’s my second attempt!

My 2013 reading plan was Classics! I would read one classic then read one book from my dangerously tipsy “to read” pile. (In truth, it’s now two piles plus the back seat of my car where most of my Goodwill finds stay until I remember them!) Started with Pride and Prejudice.
What to say and not hurt anyone’s feelings? I’ll suffice to say that I read and read and was only on page 155. I felt I had been reading a month already. I stopped. I had chosen it so that I could read

Pride and Prejudice really wasn’t necessary because James gives a good synopsis of P & P at the beginning. This was not a satisfying read for me although I did finish it. I’m thinking that time period is just not for me. I guess I’ll have to give a few others a try to see where I stand.
Going along with my theme of reading books I Should have read I have dived into

Quite a few years ago, I got the entire set of The Chronicles of Narnia. I knew I should read it. Since I’ve gotten into young adult fiction, teen fiction and some children’s fiction over the past year I thought this was a good idea. I’m enjoying this so far and will probably finish it today. Now my decision is~Do I read all seven in a row or intermingle them with other books. I’ll have to think on that.
Now to my big excitement. After over a year of saving up gift cards from birthdays and Christmases, last Thursday I finally took the plunge.
I am the proud owner of a Nook! Do I know how to use it yet? Not exactly…I’ve been poking around trying to figure things out. Fortunately for me, Barnes & Noble offers classes. I’m going to take one of them in the next few weeks so I can figure out what the heck I’m doing! But this will be a big help for traveling, I won’t have to take an entire suitcase full of books. It will also be a help once we move to New Mexico. The library there is not very extensive and I don’t think there’s a county library system like there is here. I’ll still be able to connect with the local library here (once I figure out how!!) and I’ll have all the books I want.
Stop by at Book Journey and see what everyone else is reading!
Happy Monday! Read a Book!!

It was probably a wise decision, purchasing the Nook. You will love it. It’s nice to always have a book with you.
Here’s my It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? I hope you will stop by! And Happy New Year!
Hi Deb! I’m excited about the Nook. I’ll be More excited when I figure it out!! Have a great day!
Traveling without a suitcase full of books is nice.
Hi Heather! Yes it is, but it can become cumbersome! thanks for stopping by, please visit again!
I have a Kindle and I’m really enjoying it, although I still prefer reading print books. But there are many advantages, like when traveling; and I love how easy it is to download books. Hope you enjoy it!
Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST
Hi Laurel! I’m learning a little at a time. I’m going to take a class at B & N which should help!
congrats on getting the NOOK, fran! i love that beautiful cover for it…that would motivate me to read more!
i really enjoy seeing what you are reading, and seeing your reviews/recaps…glad you stop when a book just is not doing it for you.
have a great day!
Cathy, I’ve decided I need to do that. I’m really enjoying the first of the Narnia books. Should finish today. have a great day!
Congrats on getting your NOOK! I love mine! I’ve been wanting to read Death Comes to Pemberley for a long time!
Hi Jenny, thanks for visiting. Glad to hear good comments about Nook. I’ve dragged my feet trying to decide which one I wanted. Please visit again!
I LOVE my NOOK! Hee hee, loved your post here about the attempts to link up last week and then discovered I forgot to post…. sorry about that
I loved The Magicians Nephew!
Hi Sheila! No worries, I just thought I was going a little goofy! I’m loving the meme and really enjoying Magicians Nephew. Can’t decide if I should go right on to the next book. Have a great day!
My husband has a kindle, which I use from time to time, but there is nothing like a real book in your hands, you know? Still, I’m sure that Nook will be awesome when you are traveling! And the Magician’s Nephew is my favorite of the entire Narnia series! I hope you enjoy it too!
Hi Katy! I’ll never give up real books, but this will serve several purposes for me. Glad to hear so many good comments about Magician’s Nephew!
How nice that you have an ereader now! I have had mine for about a year and I use it off and on. I still prefer paper books but as you say, with travelling it’s so much easier. I hope you’ll find out how to use it soon and enjoy it!
Hi Lee! Thanks for visiting! I’ll never give up real books, but…I have to grow with the technology I guess. Please visit again!
Pride and Prejudice really wasn’t necessary <~~ Blasphemy!
Enjoy your Nook and happy, happy reading!
Well, let’s say it wasn’t for me!!
The Nook is cool so far, but I have a long way to go!
Welcome to the land of online books, where your wrists no longer hurt holding the latest ten pound book and you don’t have to rotate your head every time you turn the page. It’s nice here, I promise. Once upon a time, I only read “book, books” and refused to consider a kindle or nook. The fates decided for me though, and I got one as a gift back in 2011, and I adore it now.
You are funny, Meghan! I just couldn’t decide which Nook I wanted, then they kept changing so I just stood by and watched for awhile. Now I just need to learn to use it! I’ll meet you for virtual coffee in On Line Book land!!
It’s a date!
Congrats to getting an ereader. I just got a Kindle. I already had a Kobo which I liked but I couldn’t read my kindle books on it. I like my ereaders but I still prefer print. Thanks for visiting my blog!
Hi Laura, thanks for visiting here! I think the idea of the Nook is wonderful and will be a big help when we travel. I think I will always love a real book and for me…the search at Goodwill, library sales and thrift stores! Please stop by again and have a good day!
Great post
I read the Chronicles of Narnia when I was younger, and my favourite was The Magician’s Nephew, for sure.
Well done for making the move to the Nook! I have a Kindle myself, and whilst I love ‘real’ books, I enjoy not having to carry around a small army, because I’m one of those people who reads 2/3 books on the go; I just pick one that suits my mood (so usually a fiction or two and a non-fiction).
I’m currently reading ‘Siddhartha’ by Hermann Hesse, and I’m not best pleased with the protagonist at this point in the story as he’s being tempted by beauty and wealth! Guess I need to read on (when the mood takes me!)
Happy reading!
Georgia Xx
Thanks, Georgia! I hadn’t thought about the fact that I can be reading more than one book at a time and not have to carry them around with me. Great Point! Gosh, Siddhartha…do I even remember what that was about?! I believe I read it in College! Have a great day!
I love Sheila’s Monday meme, helps me stay on task … almost. You’ll love your Nook once you figure it out. Pretty cover you have for it. I have a kindle fire and I love it soooo much
Have a great week and happy reading
Hi Teddyree, thanks for visiting! I love the idea that Sheila’s meme is helping me find more book bloggers! I get ideas for books that I want to read. Amazing all of the books I Haven’t heard of. Thanks for visiting, please stop by again!
Welcome to the #IMWAYR meme! I didn’t expect to like P&P but I did and it’s one of my 36 favorite favorite books! I read it before reading P&P & Zombies!
Hi Earl and thanks for stopping by! That’s too funny, my niece suggested that since I didn’t enjoy P&P, that I should try P&P and Zombies! Maybe I should! Please visit again!
Hope you’re having a great week so far!
I haven’t had much time to read. I do like reading, though and hope to get more time to in the future!
Shannon, I was an off and on reader growing up. In college, of course I had to read a lot of text books and classics because I had a lot of Literature classes. In the years since then, I’ve increased my reading yearly (though unconsciously) Now all of a sudden it’s really over the top! If you like to read, you’ll probably head in that direction too. Have a great week!!
